First page critique – Pity the Living

A little while ago I tweeted about the opportunity to have your first page of a draft novel critiqued by Edgar-winner, Meg Gardiner and veteran journalist, newspaper editor, experienced freelance editor, and writing coach, Ann Aubrey Hanson.

I was delighted to find out that my entry was one of the ones chosen for critique, and even more so when I read the comments from Meg and Ann. My first page is from a draft of Pity The Living, a crime thriller that’s about 20,000 words in, so far. See what you think of my novel opener, along with the critique from Meg and Ann:
